Getting around...

Put your walking shoes on and hike using your Nordic walking sticks or enjoy the silence. In the region Twente, it's still possible to be alone at a beautiful place. The possibilities are endless: go shopping or be active in nature. Spend time in a museum or have a lovely dinner with good company. In Twente, you will experience that the Burgundian lifestyle is not limited to the south of the Netherlands.

Food and drinks

A ray of sunlight and the terraces fill the large square in the middle of town, de Groote Markt. This is the heart of the city with lots of restaurants and pubs. Go a bit further and explore the neighbouring streets and you will find the trendy lunchroom Blond or taste wine at Wine and Bite. For a nice special beer and meeting up with the locals you go to the pub Muziekcafé De Kroeg.

The Netherlands are perfect for cycling. In Twente there is 1900 km of cycling network connected by nodes. A node from this network is located immediately behind the B&B. Also for walking there is a system with nodes. With these systems, you have optimal flexibility in finding your way and deciding which distance you would like to go. Increase fun while walking by playing the Twente regional sport: klootschieten (curling).

Adventurers go to holiday park 't Hulsbeek where you will find mountain bike trales, or enjoy horse back riding or climb in the woods at Avatarz.

Oldenzaal's most typical site is the St. Plechelmusbasilica. The tower is seen from every angle entering the city. The church has been there since 1150 which is due to luck and the robust sandstone origining from the German city Bad Bentheim. Bad Bentheim is only 20 km away from Oldenzaal, but looking at the stronghold on top of a rock, it looks very foreign to us.

When you would like to know more about the history of Oldenzaal, visit museum het Palthehuis. The museum is located at the most beautiful street of Oldenzaal and therefore already worthwhile to pay a visit.
